Invitation To Create: Flower Garden. Open ended creative spring paper craft for kids. Great for fine motor development. Perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.

Spring is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with this quick and easy, open-ended spring flower craft.  In addition to providing loads of great fine motor work, your children will get to express their creativity and enjoy these bright and cheerful spring flowers!

My girls love these Invitations To Create.  They can hardly wait when they see me snipping paper and getting the trays ready!  This type of project is so simple to set up, but my girls always spend at least an hour creating.  Since the weather around here has been terribly dreary, so VERY anxious for spring to arrive.  These pretty flowers brightened up our day, and made for a great "Welcome Spring" craft!

Here's how to set it up!

Prepare Paper For Your Flower Garden Craft

Using a variety of colors of construction paper, cut the following shapes:
  • Long, skinny rectangles (stems)
  • Triangles (petals or leaves)
  • Circles and ovals (petals)
  • Leaf shapes (um, leaves)
  • Quarter sheets (backgrounds)

I usually cut my paper while I watch TV, and it takes about 15 minutes.

Put the paper pieces in a divided tray (if you have one), and add a glue stick.

Invite your children to the table.

I let the girls work on their own at first, and then when they seemed to be slowing down I joined them in making a few flowers.  They naturally tend to copy what I've made, modifying them a bit.  Sometimes they need a little bit of extra inspiration!
